Hohenester Gasthaus & Hotel

Everything's great.

We were very pleased with dinner and plan to return. We’d booked well ahead and managed to get a table on Friday evening, even though we were there “only” for dinner. The complimentary apricot or vanilla schnapps came before the bill, and our vegetable bagel and beef strips arrived quickly. Both were very good and, to me, fairly priced. The menu is concise, and the dining room has a genuinely Bavarian feel. The traditional Bavarian folks were in a separate room, while the full main dining room had a table for two for us. Most guests seemed to be locals, with lots of groups of five to seven. Our server was a young woman, friendly and full of energy. Even at 7 pm on Friday, there were still courtyard parking spaces. The entrance is very nice and looks like it’s been invested in. For comparison, we also eat around the area at Birnbaum in Ebersbach, Methexis and da Franco in Weichs, Thai Orchidee and Memories in Markt Indersdorf, MIND in Markt Indersdorf, and Post in Haimhausen. We’ve only been to MIND once, but highly recommend it. It’s in a different league.

The restaurant across the road serves excellent food. The hotel itself is wonderfully run, spotlessly clean, and top-notch throughout. It’s about 50 minutes from Augsburg and 15 from Dachau. I’d be glad to stay again.

For a one-night stay, the hotel was perfectly fine and absolutely clean. Breakfast was very basic, with no fruit and Messmer tea bags, for example. That’s understandable for a small hotel.
