The owner stayed up waiting for us, even though we were only there for one night. It’s tucked among hills, forest, and open countryside, a lovely spot for a traditional German-style getaway. The place feels quite traditional, but the bathrooms have been renovated, with very hot water and good pressure.

Franconia (Franken) has miles of lovely forests, streams, and fields cultivated for ages, and the villages are full of friendly people, surprises, and well-preserved buildings from before Napoleon's invasion. Three weeks with the Haueis family last summer (2024) still felt much too short to explore all its natural wonders and cultural and historical connections. The family were friendly and accommodating, always ready to help, and I had one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had. I'd go back in a minute.

The food is so local and tasty that I’ve put this place among my favorite restaurants. It’s excellent, and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality. The staff are nice, too. I visited often as a child, then came back recently and was amazed by how much the place had improved. If you’re in the area, it’s well worth a visit.
