The meal was delicious, the beer was ice cold, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Even without a reservation, the hostess found me a beautiful front-row outdoor seat overlooking the valley and peaks. I’d recommend booking during busy times. The restaurant has comfortable indoor seating too, but the weather and scenery made sitting outside an easy choice. Berggasthof Kärntner Alm sits above Mittenwald, with an incredible view of the town and surrounding mountains. I’ve traveled a lot, and this is among the most spectacular restaurant settings I’ve seen anywhere. If you’re visiting Mittenwald or exploring the Bavarian Alps, make time for it. The setting is every bit as memorable as the food.

We asked for a few changes to our meals that restaurants don’t usually agree to, and they accommodated us. Everything was freshly prepared and just as good as the amazing view. Truly a gem of a restaurant.

The waitress was lovely, and the view was great. The portions were satisfying, the food was super delicious, and it was definitely worth the price. One of my best dining experiences in Germany so far. I’d love to come back to Mittenwald and eat here again.

Those ribs were a real highlight. Tender, with no fat, a great sauce, and the meat came cleanly off the bone. I’m from Texas in the USA, and they’re among the best I’ve had anywhere. The German food was authentic and delicious, and the attentive, friendly team made us feel welcome. With breathtaking views as a backdrop, it made for a memorable evening. A big thank you to the chef and team. We highly recommend it!
