Hiltruper Hof

The staff are friendly, and the restaurant is decent. This is a quaint little hotel in the Münster suburb of Hilltrup, but the rooms are dated. The heating was off when we arrived, so it was freezing, and there was no heat in the bathroom, which was a nightmare in winter. Breakfast was all right, nothing special. It has historical character, but the old architecture means it lacks many amenities found in modern hotels.

The owner, Henrik, was very accommodating, and we had a fantastic stay. The hotel is about 30 minutes by bus from Munster City, in a peaceful, quiet area with plenty of restaurants, cafes and a supermarket nearby. Our room was clean and well maintained, and just right for two people. There’s no elevator, though, and we were on the third level. We arrived close to midnight after trouble getting to Munster from Dusseldorf Airport, but the staff kindly waited for us. The young woman and young man, who I believe worked in the restaurant, checked us in and carried our luggage upstairs. They made a very positive first impression and deserve a mention. Breakfast was simple and fresh, with no hot food or toaster for the bread. The chef made perfect hard-boiled eggs every day, and you could also order eggs cooked to your preference. Checkout was at 11am, but they let us leave our luggage until late.

We always stop here when we’re in the area. It’s cozy, clean and has a lovely atmosphere, with friendly staff who make you feel welcome.

This is my third stay here, and I’ll keep coming back whenever I visit. It’s comfortable, well located, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Everything you need is just a few minutes’ walk away.
