Eden Hotel Wolff

The only awkward moment was at checkout over a bottle of water from the minibar. I called reception on my first day to ask what was chargeable and was initially told nothing was free. A few minutes later, the same receptionist called back to say their records showed one bottle of water was complimentary, so I used one. At checkout I was asked to pay. When I explained the earlier call, the receptionist twice insisted that couldn't be right. I wasn't charged in the end, but the uncomfortable part was being made to feel dishonest, not the money. This seemed like internal miscommunication, and the hotel should improve how it communicates such details. Clear, consistent information would prevent this and leave guests with a better final impression, especially after a stressful travel disruption. My stay at Eden Hotel Wolff was otherwise smooth and comfortable. DB arranged it after my DB ICE train was cancelled, for my onward connection the next day. The room was clean and comfortable, the location excellent, and staff generally kind and professional. They also allowed me a late checkout when I asked, which I appreciated.

The location made it easy to get around and explore nearby attractions, and the breakfast was fresh, varied, and something I looked forward to each morning. My room felt spacious for a solo traveler and was especially comfortable. The gym and sauna were great for unwinding after a long day exploring the city. I'd suggest adding a coffee machine to the rooms, with complimentary coffee, tea and water. That small addition would make the experience even better. I had a great stay and would happily return.

The convenient location near the train station didn't make up for the price. We expected better accuracy, amenities and service for what we paid. I know there was a festival on, but even taking that into account, the value wasn't there. The other three hotels on our trip cost less and offered more, including in-room coffee, washcloths and complimentary breakfast. The rooms looked much more basic and disappointing in person than the modern, updated ones shown in the website photos. There were no washcloths, not even on the housekeeping carts, and no coffee maker or alarm clock. Coffee meant going downstairs and paying. The coffee shop next door was closed, so I had to leave, cross the street and go down into the subway to find a Starbucks. We also had a booking issue through Booking.com, though it's possible the mistake was ours. The reservation showed one room for one person and another for three, but we arrived as two couples. The hotel made no effort to fix or accommodate it. We were told “it is what it is” and charged for triple occupancy that didn't reflect how we were actually staying. Even offering breakfast or trying to adjust things would have helped, but nothing was offered. The staff were generally unaccommodating and seemed rude. When I asked a question at the front desk, my wife and sister-in-law noticed staff rolling their eyes. Another time, several people were behind the desk but didn't look up or acknowledge us as we left. No greeting or even a “have a good day.” That felt unprofessional and unacceptable for this price.

The spot is very convenient, right across from Munich Hbf, especially if you need the trains. The only downside is that the area around the station can feel a little sketchy, with some strange people hanging around. That's no fault of the lovely hotel, though. The hotel has charming Bavarian decor and a good breakfast selection. Its restaurant serves good Bavarian food and doubles as the breakfast area in the morning. The bathroom has a very wide sink, which you don't find in many new hotels these days, plus a good selection of amenities that are replenished daily. Staff and concierge respond quickly to requests, and laundry service comes back in just one day.
