H2 Hotel Muenchen Messe

Check-in was quick and easy, and there was plenty of free parking for my large car. We booked after staying with the H2 Düsseldorf chain, which had shaped our expectations. Here the rooms felt very stuffy. Breakfast was otherwise fine, but in the big dining room there was just one spot to get drinking water, so the line got huge. Kids getting juice at the same place added to the wait.

The room was modern and clean, and check-in was quick with a fast reception team. Still, there were a few annoyances during my two-night stay. There was no kettle for making a hot drink, and rooms are only cleaned every three days, so mine wasn’t serviced. The TV wasn’t smart and stopped working on the second day; its remote also didn’t work when I first arrived. Reaching the operator was difficult too, since calls weren’t being answered.

The rooms smelled rotten every day from the pipes, and there was a loud blower running constantly even with the air conditioning off. The tobacco vending machine was broken too. We were five Spaniards in Munich for Oktoberfest, and the problems began on day one: Wi-Fi was supposedly being repaired, but still wasn’t working after three days. One night we came back to find the water shut off. Although they knew about it, they offered no free water and tried to charge us €5 for half a liter. Our rooms never got cleaned or tidied during the stay. Breakfast was poor, with powdered juice, only apples for fruit, and low-quality pastries. When we complained about the missing water, Wi-Fi, and basic services, staff just said, “that’s the way it is.” Reception also had long queues with one person serving while others chatted in back. The price was completely out of proportion to what we got. We paid for basic amenities like water, Wi-Fi, cleaning, and decent service, but none were provided. The treatment was awful. I can’t give zero stars, but I strongly recommend against staying here.

The room is small, though it was enough for one person. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was perfectly placed for the inhorgenta munich fair, right across from the event location.
