Hotel Munich City

We arrived with heavy luggage and found there was no elevator, so we had to carry everything up three flights of stairs ourselves. Nobody from the staff helped. The front door had no lock, leaving just the individual room lock for security. The front desk was badly understaffed too. One employee was checking guests in, answering calls, and serving drinks at the bar. Our room was dirty and gave us no sense of comfort. The bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t close, the drapes were half off the wall and clearly unrepaired, and the window looked out on a yard full of garbage. Another guest told us his room had bugs and he was extremely upset. This was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had. Between the security concerns, poor staffing, broken facilities, and lack of cleanliness, I can’t recommend it.

The price was cheap, but you might be better off in a hostel. In freezing weather, the heater wasn’t working. I later realized they seem to turn it off at night. When I asked staff about it, they acted as though it wasn’t relevant, and when I requested an extra cover, the response was, “let me see if I have if not then not”. The pictures lie, there’s been no steam room available since 2021. The bar only takes cash, which is appalling for 2025. The bed was uncomfortable, and there were unexplained clicks and clanks in the room.

Pipes made a lot of noise all through the room, and the water pressure was poor. The drains were blocked. The bathroom fan was coming out of the ceiling, and the hairdryer filter was caked in at least 5 years worth of dead skin and fluff. The staff weren’t friendly at all, and nobody even told me the checkout time. The area isn’t good.

The hotel changed our room after we found lots of adult and baby bed bugs crawling on the bed and floor, but gave no apology, refund, or compensation. We had to clean our own luggage and clothes so the bugs wouldn’t come home with us. Before leaving, we asked to talk to the manager, but he came to work late. We also emailed the hotel, but believe he may have been too busy to reply. If you get charged more than the regular price and bring bed bugs home for free, this is the right hotel for you.
