NH München City Süd

The taxi we’d asked the hotel to book never arrived on our departure morning, but Glady at reception sorted it out for us. The hotel is a little way from the city centre, though Karl-Preis-PLatz is about a five-minute walk down Rosenheimer Strasse, so getting around was easy enough. We stayed three nights for the Scotland v Germany game and had a really good time. On arrival, a friendly Dutch receptionist showed us around the services, wished us luck for the game, and shared a bit of stadium trivia. The room was clean and spacious, with glasses and a large bottle of water waiting for us. The shower was good and soap was provided. There’s a free coffee machine in the foyer, plus a sauna in the basement, which I hadn’t come across in a hotel before. We were very pleased with the stay and would consider coming back to Munich and staying here again.

The rooms were tidy and roomy enough, and the hotel is only 5 km from the city center with good public transport links. If you ride a bicycle, the location should suit you well too. Service was excellent, with helpful staff who were in good spirits. For such a low price, it’s very good value, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The night managers I met were polite and helpful, and even gave me a slight upgrade, so I was happy at first. I’ve stayed here three times because it’s close to my office and easy to get to, though the building is quite old. I had to switch rooms three times before finding one I could settle into. When I needed to extend my stay, I had to check in again. The interaction with the person at the counter was one of the most horrible experiences I’ve had, and it wiped out the good impression from before. I’ve decided this will probably be my last stay at NH hotels, especially this Munich Süd branch.

We had a company group booking, and one colleague tested positive and had to extend their stay because they weren’t allowed to fly. We asked the hotel to leave some breakfast on a tray at their door. They refused and said our colleague should go pick it up themselves, despite being positive, in a hotel where more than 100 people were having breakfast. That showed complete disregard for the safety of the other guests. We also asked for teabags because they were sick, and that was refused too. The building is old and poorly kept, and the service was absolutely horrible. The whole experience was dreadful.
