I've stayed in the "hay hotel" three years running, and the family Griebel's friendly, accommodating service keeps bringing me back. They're around every day, and it feels good to pay a couple more euros to support a family business that's also their livelihood. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, and the food is delicious. On neuwerk, nothing is far away. Meal hours are a bit limited, but that's understandable with their small staff.

The food was good. We ordered fish and meat, and both were cooked just as requested. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and they can point you toward other places to see on the island. There's a nice beer garden with sunshades, plus plenty of room inside.

It's a beautiful place, and the wardens and waitresses are competent and pleasant. At certain busy times there may be too few staff for the amount of work, but the people working there are nice to deal with.
