Furstenhof Appartment 6

We were happy with Apartment 5 itself: modern, in excellent condition, and with a particularly comfortable bed. It's also a fantastic base, with everywhere easy to reach. But if you want peace and quiet, be aware of the school camp right across from it. At 7:30 every morning, loud alarm music woke us up, so sleeping in wasn't possible. In the evenings there was ball playing and shouting on the square outside until exactly 10 p.m. They're children and should be able to have fun, of course, but at this apartment's price the noise was too much for us. If you sleep deeply and don't mind noise, you could have lovely days here. We wanted a quiet holiday, so we'd look elsewhere.

We went to Norderney with the family in August and found the Kohlstedde family's vacation apartment at the Fürstenhof through a recommendation. Everything was within easy walking distance, which worked very well for us. The apartment was well maintained, the beds were comfortable, and the children felt at home in their own room. My wife and I could relax on the couch in the evening with a glass of wine and a bit of TV. The time flew by. We'll definitely return next spring.

Our first visit to Fürstenhof Apartment 1 (Bernhard) went smoothly from start to finish. We called before the ferry, and after the crossing and bus ride our contact was waiting outside with the keys. The apartment looked almost new, with no signs of wear, and it was very clean. Thanks to the cleaning staff. Its location was ideal for exploring the island, and the bus station was close. We were sure we'd return. On our second stay, also in Apartment 1, things went very differently. There were four of us, a baby and someone undergoing chemotherapy among us. We called from the ferry again, but nobody from the key service was outside, and suddenly nobody answered the phone. Even the owner couldn't reach them. We waited 45 minutes until the cleaning lady arrived, without an apology or any sign of regret. When we asked about the delay, given that we had a child undergoing chemotherapy with us, she said she had only one kidney. That was completely unprofessional. After we got in, we put the baby down to explore and found the cleaning had either been skipped or done carelessly. The child's hands and feet were black, an oily pan from the previous tenant was in the cupboard, and we had to mop the whole apartment. Photos are attached. We left three baby bottle caps on the sink when we checked out. When I explained what had happened to the owner by email, she said the parquet was oiled and should only be wiped with a slightly damp cloth, not microfiber. What was used on it, old motor oil? We then asked about having the forgotten caps sent to us. It would cost 20 euros. When we asked why, we were told someone would have to stand in line at the post office. The cleaning company's unreasonable, rude response and the landlady's disinterested, patronizing reply mean we won't book Apartment 1 again or recommend it. I can only partly change the earlier five-star rating, otherwise the service would get just one star.

The furnishings in Apartment 6 are lovely, and it's very well equipped. We had a pleasant stay, including breakfast on the balcony when the weather was good.
