B&B Hotel Nürnberg-Plärrer

I can choose B&B without hesitation. The Nürnberg-Plarer hotel matched the quality I’ve come to expect from B&B Hotels around the world. The rooms were clean and conveniently laid out, the Wi-Fi was fast, and the staff were attentive and friendly.

I arrived around 10 PM and found no one at reception. A few drunk men outside told me to use the check-in machine. I completed check-in there but still couldn’t get through the main door, so another guest had to let me in. Those men followed me into the elevator, and I felt unsafe. There was no supervisor around, and the noise in the hallway left me too scared to sleep. The room made the experience even worse. It was dusty and cramped, with a strange layout where the bathroom and shower were separate but shared a door. The towels were worn, the linens stained, and there wasn’t a proper glass, just an unstable paper one. There was no water or Wi-Fi information either. I’ve had a truly awful stay and don’t understand why they call this a hotel when there isn’t even a reception. If I’d known what to expect, I wouldn’t have booked. I’ve already asked my company to remove it from their recommended list.

The hotel is close to the train station, and I could walk to everything I needed. It also seemed to have been renovated, which was nice. The check-in monitor wouldn’t accept my details, but staff helped me instead. The room wasn’t properly cleaned. There were a couple of hairs on the pillow, the toilet smelled strongly of urine, and sticky residue covered the tiled floor. There was no safe in the room either.

We had a comfortable, mostly quiet room, with no street noise. I did hear water gurgling now and then, possibly from the air conditioning, which you can switch on and adjust. The toilet is apart from the shower and sink, and the sliding door doesn’t block sound or smells, so that felt a bit awkward. The location was handy: a tram stop is right outside, and the city centre is walkable or one stop away. There’s a great Egyptian restaurant around the corner and a supermarket nearby. Good value for the money. A kettle and mini fridge would’ve been useful, though those aren’t that common in Germany.
