Burghotel Nürnberg

The breakfast was incredible, with plenty for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. They also serve Kuchen and special drinks in the afternoon. I didn’t get to try the sauna or swimming pool on my winter visit, but they’re on my list for next summer. Parking was easy to find near the city center and hotel. This family-run place in the heart of Old Town completely stole my heart. It’s warm and welcoming, and we found it on our Christmas Markets visit this year. I’m already planning to return. Reiner greeted us, and every interaction with the family and staff made us feel genuinely cared for. It’s a special place and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know visiting Nürnberg. Do yourself a favor and book here. You won’t regret it. Viel Spaß!

The old town location was the big plus for us: shops and the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt are an easy walk away, and the off-site parking garage is only about 3-5 minutes on foot. Staff were lovely and happy to offer directions and suggestions. Just note that reception isn't open 24 hours; that was fine for me. Breakfast was available, though we skipped it, and the pool was nice but felt cold in December since it isn't heated. The rooms were clean, quiet, welcoming, and had the amenities and luggage space we needed. The Haribo gummy bears on the pillows were a cute touch. But those beds felt like old, bouncy box springs, and we lost a lot of sleep. It really affected our stay and makes this hard to recommend, since that kind of comfort is what I'd expect at a very cheap hotel or hostel. I'm glad we stayed for the location, and otherwise the hotel suited us well, but the mattresses are a major drawback.

The rooms are a little small and somewhat dated, though you're not likely to spend much time in them. Staff are always lovely, breakfast is pretty good, and I really like staying here in Nürnberg. The sauna gets hot and the pool stays cool.

You can't beat this location. There’s a basement pool, and the sauna only turns on after 7pm. With no air conditioning, you'll need to open the windows fully at night. I'd ask for a room at the back, since people from the bar next door can be outside the front late at night, drinking, laughing, and talking loudly.
