Hotel Cristal

The parking and the bed were the only things I liked. The room felt worn and wasn’t clean, and there was a terrible smell even with the window open. The shower barely ran, just a thin stream, so washing was difficult with such low water pressure. I’m glad we stayed only one night. The location isn’t too bad, at least.

My first stay went fine, but the second was a pretty bad experience. Staff on both shifts were unfriendly, kept interrupting me, and seemed to be rushing me. I’d made a booking mistake. Instead of helping, they marked it as a “no show” and tried to charge me an extra 100 euro on the morning of checkout, even though I was staying in another room and had paid for that room in person at the hotel, not online. They said they were fully booked and had lost money, although the hotel was half empty. When we discussed it, they didn’t seem to care at all. They said there was no manager and that they didn’t care about keeping customers. I won’t be back, and I’d advise avoiding this place when possible.

I had to stay in Nürnberg unexpectedly, and they even gave me a discount when I booked directly at the front desk. The staff were very friendly and tried to help with everything. The room was clean, and I could always get extra cushions or covers when I needed them. I’m very, very pleased with this hotel. Five stars for everything!

For July, during holiday season, the prices at Hotel Cristal were very reasonable, and we were more than pleased to find it while looking for affordable lodging for a trade show in Nuremburg. The hotel was clean, pleasantly decorated, and run by an efficient staff. We enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet, with local foods as well as eggs and cereal. It was brutally hot for the region on some days, and our main disappointment was the lack of A/C. There wasn’t a fan in the room to keep the air moving either. The hot spell passed, and we’d consider staying at Hotel Cristal again. I do hope Management will think about adding ceiling fans to the rooms.
