ibis Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof

Breakfast was really good, as Ibis does it well, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel sits off the busy street but is close to everything you want to see, with parking available if you're driving. There are two Ibis hotels a couple of blocks apart, so this is the one away from the busy street. The rooms are typically small, fine for a night or two if the price is reasonable. The bed was typically German hard but comfortable, though there was only one small pillow. The air was turned off at night, leaving the room a little stuffy. Still, we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

We got a warm welcome, and all the staff we met were pleasant and professional. The hotel was easy to find, very close to both the old town and train station. Parking underground was tight but fine. The room was okay, with plenty of space otherwise, though the bathroom was small and the bed sat a little close to the door. Breakfast was good.

We were in a room right above the car park exit gate, and it needs some serious oiling. It squeaked and churned every time someone left, especially on busy Sunday mornings. There's also no small fridge or other way to keep food or drinks cold, so you can't save leftovers or chill drinks. I'd ask for extra pillows as soon as you arrive, trust me. For the price it's not bad outside holidays or rate spikes, but not worth it when prices are hiked.

Our room was spacious, but the shower tray filled up almost to overflowing every time we showered because it wouldn't drain properly. We're very conscious of water use, but the water wouldn't drain right away. We tried guest services by calling from the room, but the phone didn't work; calls from our own phones didn't get through either. Don't count on getting extra pillows or even one extra towel.
