The larger apartment the landlord kindly offered us had two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen, and was spacious and nicely furnished. But the low sloping ceiling made showering, doing your hair and cooking awkward if you’re over 164 cm (5'4"). We’d originally booked the ground-floor unit, which didn’t really work for three people who weren’t a family. Its third bed was in the kitchen and passage to the bathroom, and the little balcony table on the landing only seated two.

The two balconies look out over beautiful mountains, and the apartment is well placed. There’s plenty of room in the three-room layout for a family or a group, but anyone over 1.70m will have a hard time. The sloping ceiling means you need to duck to get to the bathroom, brush your teeth or cook at the counter. We received guest cards for our stay, with small discounts such as 50 cents off the cable car. These are not the KönigsCard, which gives free use of many cable cars and other attractions. Other professionally run holiday rentals in Oberammergau include the KönigsCard in the price. About the owner's response: We came with our 1.5-year-old daughter, so more food than usual ended up on the floor during meals. Before leaving, we wiped the tables, put the dishes in the dishwasher, took out the rubbish, and put the furniture and decorations back neatly. Even so, despite the €40 cleaning fee, the landlord accused us of leaving the stovetop uncleaned, not mopping, and not running the dishwasher. He even implied we'd taken spoons. The landlord's words were, "and in general, the cleaning effort was enormous due to the toddler". I wouldn't recommend this place to families with children. The holiday apartment across the street by the pastry shop is just as nice, costs less, includes a KönigsCard, and has much friendlier staff.

The owner was friendly and shared useful tips, and we had a wonderful stay at Landhaus Haser. The apartment is beautiful, very well equipped and set in stunning countryside. We felt completely at ease and would love to return.
