Villa Silva - Oberhof

Really good!

The spa treatments need to be booked before you travel, since every appointment was already taken when we arrived. We did get to unwind in the pool in the evening, and the breakfast was delicious, with the staff keeping the buffet stocked and kindly handling special requests. Our spacious, very clean room had two bedrooms, was quiet, and was nicely furnished. Booking here was the right choice for us, and we'd gladly return.

We stayed five nights at Villa Silva over the October school holidays and booked two rooms. The parking charge was the worst part: after paying a lot for the stay, we were asked for another €70. I think that’s outrageous, and hotel guests should have parking included. The hotel’s star rating feels completely undeserved.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the hotel, and the pool was a great option in the bad weather. It wasn’t too crowded when we visited. We brought our own bathrobes and crossed the courtyard to get there, which isn’t far from Villa Silva. There’s also a sort of changing room, though we didn’t use it, and I hadn’t seen that mentioned on the website or in reviews. I was there for a few days with my daughter, staying at Villa Silva, part of the Konsum Berghotel, on half-board. Breakfast was always good, and dinner was satisfactory on two of the three nights. My daughter could always find something to eat, although the evening buffet is generally more aimed at adults. You can order something extra for children. I’d read plenty of complaints about extra costs. For us, half-board was the cheapest option in the area, and the alternatives on-site didn’t seem much different. I’m no restaurant expert, but I was glad we booked it since it made the cost of eating out feel less apparent. The evening bill for drinks only seemed reasonable. We always found a parking space, and it currently costs €12 a day. Be careful using the machine: I couldn’t see a button for a receipt, though as a private individual I don’t need one. I’m still unsure why it couldn’t be included for stays of five days or more, or paid at reception. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back.
