Hotel Blauer Karpfen

Our room was comfortable, and breakfast had a nice typical selection of meats, breads, and other things. It’s easy to catch a bus to the U-Bahn or S-Bahn for getting farther afield.

There’s enough free parking, and the hotel is simple but looked after and cleaned with care. The crew were very friendly. Breakfast was the best I’ve had in the last 2-3 years, varied and creative, with everything prepared with love.

The rooms are dated, but that didn’t bother me. Mine was spacious and clean, with a big bathroom and a comfortable bed. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, including the Greek restaurant next door. Castles, a flight museum, a large wooded park for running, and a great Hit Supermarket by the S-Bahn are also nearby. It’s an easy 10-12 minute walk to the station, then about 20 minutes by train to Old Town and the Oktoberfest stops. The city is very walkable and good for running. I had a couple of service issues that weren’t resolved well, which kept this from being a five-star stay. Still, it’s a good place to stay.

The train station is about 0.4 miles away and offers connections pretty much everywhere, including to and from the airport. There’s also a bus across the street if you don’t want to walk. The castles are within walking distance and gorgeous to visit. Breakfast was worth the money, and everyone was friendly, though there was a slight language barrier. I’d stay again.
