Trail Hotel Oberstaufen

A single room costs around €100 a night, and at that price I'd expect more. The Oberstaufen+ package isn't included, and it wasn't at all clear when booking. There's no spa area either. Breakfast is meager, with less choice than at other nearby hotels. The rooms are basic, sparsely furnished, and a bit dated, with very soft mattresses. Staff came across as distant and impersonal, perhaps because the hotel is run by an external company. Poor value for money in this region. We wouldn't recommend it.

We spent four nights here and were greeted warmly. On departure, though, we were simply told to leave the key, with no goodbye or question about our stay. The staff could be friendlier and more attentive. We also had to wait two days after reporting that the bathroom heating wasn't working before someone sorted it out and provided an electric heater. At breakfast there was no orange juice. After several guests asked, we were told it had been discontinued because the hotel belongs to a chain. We won't recommend this hotel or stay at another hotel in that chain. There are better places available.

Breakfast was very good, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and spacious, with a large corner balcony that we didn't use during the winter. We stayed three nights and were very satisfied. We'd happily return.

We only stayed one night, but it was good value for money. The decor is a little dated and has an 80s feel, though everything was neat and clean. Our spacious room had what we needed, and despite being right on the street, the hotel was relatively quiet at night. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and plentiful, and there was even fresh juice. Our bikes were kept safely in a locked garage. A solid choice for a short stay.
