Naturhotel Waldesruhe

This is my second visit here this year, and the owner is always ready to help with whatever problem comes up. The staff are very polite, and the view over Obersdorf is the best. Breakfast is great with a view, and the wellness area is perfect, though it closes at 20:00. The rooms look good, but the bathrooms are a bit small. L

It’s a very quiet area with the forest nearby and the city about 10-15 minutes away. The rooms are clean and updated, and free cable car access was great value. There were five or six seilbahn options, and you could use them as often as you liked. Breakfast from 8-10 was free, very good, and had lots of choices. They also said there was free “lunch” from 2-4, though it was more like snacks, with plenty of options. There’s a free spring water faucet too. The pool, sauna, and gym are open from 8am-8pm. A couple of things to know: the front desk is staffed only until 3pm. After that, they leave instructions and room cards on the desk, and there’s no staff around to help with towels or other accessories. I’d booked a mountain view room but got a corner room with a side view, which I’d call partial rather than full. They offered me a free upgrade to a front-facing mountain room the next day, but I declined. The visit was amazing overall, though I think it’s overpriced.

We had great food and service during our Christmas stay a few years ago. There wasn't much snow, but everything looked beautiful. We're Americans and had no problems at all. We'd definitely go back!

The homemade apfelstrudel was really good, and they have a tasty selection of teas too. Sit inside by the windows if you can, the view takes in oberstdorf and the mountains.
