Even with the scruffy details in the room, I slept surprisingly well: the mattress was firm, and once the windows were shut, I couldn’t hear the trains. That mattered, especially since prices were sky high during a major Frankfurt convention and staying here let me attend a poetry workshop. The location takes some planning. It’s about a ten-minute walk from Offenbach Ost, with four S-Bahn lines connecting from the main station in under 30 minutes. The walk isn’t great with a suitcase. I only had a backpack and handbag, so it was manageable. The hotel is in an industrial area without amenities, and you can hear trains in the rooms if the windows are open. The room was basic but usable. The cup by the bathroom sink had old water in it, the kettle was covered inside with condensation, and the curtains had holes. The cabinet veneer was scratched and frayed too. Check-in was odd: the woman barely spoke and didn’t return my greetings. Later, she and other staff were warm and friendly, so the change was a mystery. Overall, the service wasn’t too bad.

I paid for four nights but left after just one. The hotel was nearly 40 minutes from the city center, the room wasn’t clean, especially the floor, and only the bed sheets seemed fresh. There wasn’t even bottled water in the room. Also, no receptionist was there before 15:00 if you needed anything. I don’t recommend it.

The staff were really friendly, and the rooms and beds were comfortable. It’s a good place to rest if you’re flying into Hahn airport and taking the shuttle to Mainz or Frankfurt. From either train station, you can catch an S-Bahn straight to Offenbach Ost, then it’s only about a seven-minute walk to the hotel.

I was left outside with no room access, despite having paid for a stay. After driving all day, I reached the reservation desk at 23:07, and first had to work out where to park and how to enter. To my surprise, nobody was there, and no one had messaged or called to help me get into my room. Nobody seemed to care about the service I’d booked. That’s no way to run a business, especially a hospitality one. Awful place.

This was a nightmare. I booked five months ahead, but the hotel cancelled my reservation the day before the stay and offered no alternative. Booking.com helped me find somewhere else at the last minute.
