Haus am Kiel

The pension sits between two larger villages, where you can park and head to the beach. I really recommend the nearby cliff coast for a stunning evening sunset. There are lots of parking spaces, and I never had trouble finding one. Our room was clean, the bathroom was beautiful, and the staff were very nice and always polite. Breakfast was delicious, and they were happy to arrange special requests. The service was very good overall.

The beetroot was outstanding, and the cod was so good I was glad to have a portion that's basically enough for two. The wild boar is apparently a top-level example, and dessert was good as well. The one letdown was the wild garlic soup, which barely tasted of wild garlic. I love that flavour, so if it's on the menu, I want plenty of it. German cooking gets a bad rap, often from me, especially when Germany shares borders with Italy and France. This place gives it a name as great as Catherine, if you know your Russian history. Even with the soup missing the mark, you'll have a blast here.

A delightful hotel in a great location, with lovely staff. I can't recommend it enough!

The food was delicious 😋, and the staff were friendly and attentive. They even checked during the meal to see if we wanted more sauce. Since we're from the Vogtland region, we were happy to say yes 😁. The Baltic Sea-inspired decor and atmosphere were lovely, and the meal was excellent value for money. Keep it up, we'll definitely be back.
