Booking.com confirmed that my reservation was valid and that I didn't need to pay extra or cancel, but the owner kept pressuring me after I booked the rental through them. He called shortly afterward and demanded more money for the nights or that I cancel, which would have cost me €60. When I asked him to use email or text in future, he said that felt too impersonal. Then the calls kept coming, sometimes every minute, starting at 8:30 in the morning and going on all day. I couldn't get my phone to stop ringing, so we eventually canceled. The owner lives in the same building and was completely intrusive, with no respect for our privacy. Phone harassment is a crime too. We sent a complaint to the agency that advertised the rental on Booking.com and showed them the call log with dozens of calls from the owner. At least the apartment is no longer listed on Booking.com.

The apartment was first-class and had everything we needed. We got a very friendly welcome.
