Hotel-Gasthof Zur Sonne

The food is what made this place stand out for me. The menu has a thoughtful range for vegetarians and meat eaters, with dishes like Hauxen, schnitzel, meats and sausages, plus plenty of wines and beers. A passionate, experienced chef has brought together fresh market ingredients and modern Bavarian flavors. I had a lovely pre-Christmas dinner here with family and friends, and the service was excellent. The room feels just as welcoming as the staff. There are wooden floors, brick walls, a lit log fire, comfortable seats and good-sized tables, with art inspired mostly by the local area and nature. Outside, a large modern terrace looks onto lovely gardens and a water feature, a nice spot for summer evenings. In winter, the fires and cozy atmosphere pair well with a glass of Glü wine. It’s a rare combination of a great setting, warm service and food I’ve really enjoyed at Zur Sonne Pappenheim.
