Ibis Budget Hamburg Quickborn

Right off the major highway, this is a very convenient place to stop and rest for the night. Check-in was seamless, as you'd expect from Ibis hotels. The rooms are clean, though a bit small, and I kept bumping into things.

It's just what you'd expect from an ibis budget on the German autobahn: no extras, no luxury, and no real comfort, but reasonably clean. Parking is great, it's easy to reach, and the kiosk provides 24h check-in. The bed, restroom, and shower all work. I'd stay again for the location and price, but only for one night while passing through.

We stopped here on the way to Danmark, since the hotel is close to Hamburg. It was really clean and had lots of free parking spaces. The person at reception was really nice and helpful. I'll definitely return if I'm in the area.

Unsafe and far too short-staffed. One of the three of us hit her head on the upper bed and was bleeding badly in the room, so she had to go to the hospital. Don't expect much help from Ibis. There was only one person behind the counter, busy with his own business and unwilling to assist. On our second attempt, someone called emergency services, though I barely speak German. One of us stayed behind to collect the other two from the nearby hospital later. He had to change the bedding and towels himself and clean up the blood. While I stood there with the bloodied sheets, the host was selling beer to other guests. It was completely mind-boggling. The host later apologized and said it had been busy because of several circumstances in Hamburg, but this still falls far below standard. We've always liked Ibis for its good basic standard when traveling, but never again. Ibis management needs to improve staffing and provide rooms without bunk beds. Guests should go elsewhere until Ibis has fixed these problems. Even if you're careful, it's easy to hit your head. Self check-in is incredibly slow too.
