Bergpension Laasen Perle Rathen

The rooms were quiet, clean, and a comfortable size, and I slept well on the mattress. Breakfast had a nice mix of continental and typical German choices, from marmalade and eggs to different wursts. There’s no Wi-Fi in the room, which made it hard to fall asleep with Netflix, but the grounds and setting made up for that. We booked Bergpension Laasen Perle at the last minute because it was the only place I could find, and I’m really glad we did. It’s a beautiful inn halfway up the mountain, tucked behind the Laasenhof buildings so you barely notice them. You can reach the top of Oberrathen by the stair footpath, or take the road around the mountain with a bike. The owners were accommodating and let us secure our bikes near the room. After two days, though, we decided it was easier to leave them in Rathen rather than carry them up and down, which suited me as a casual rider who hates hills. Rathen village is about a five-minute walk away. From there you can catch a train to Dresden, cycle, or hike, and there are trails right behind the pension too.
