We’ve stayed here twice now, and both times it felt like being at home. The owner is so warm and welcoming, and breakfast set us up nicely for the drive back to Finland. There’s also an excellent restaurant in the same building. We’ll come back when we’re passing through, as long as it’s open.

The rooms are modernly furnished, with large beds and firm mattresses in the single rooms. The shared bathroom across the hall was clean and tidy, and a private bathroom can be requested. Check-in is available around the clock, with the key code sent by email or SMS. The hosts are friendly, but I lost a point because the hostess would only take my booking online rather than handle my request by phone. The hotel Wi-Fi also didn’t work. It’s handy for Hamburg and close to the A23, A7 and B4, though the main road through Rellingen gets noisy with the windows open. That’s not the hosts’ fault. I also wanted to pay by bank transfer before the weekend, since my business address was clearly listed, but the hostess insisted on payment at the hotel. Neither host nor guest can always be there in person.
