Hotel Belvedere

The furniture was old and smelly, the hotel needs redecorating, and the staff were unfriendly. I was made to pay in the middle of my stay, and they charged extra for my service dog despite what we'd agreed at check-in. I definitely won't stay here again.

We got in at 11 pm after taking the train from Berlin, but couldn't reach the hotel by phone. The late-arrival instructions Expedia had given us didn't help, and the instructions at the hotel were in German. We ended up walking to another hotel, where luckily they had a room. When we came back the next day for an explanation, there was still no one who could speak English, beyond someone saying they'd put a paper in a window with the instructions. There were more than 20 papers there, and our name wasn't on any of them. The hotel charged $186.04, and Expedia told us the hotel wouldn't refund the reservation. Expedia didn't help us either. I've traveled a lot, but this was my first experience this bad. Terrible customer service. Never use this hotel.

My wife and I checked in on September 23, 2018, for one night before our scheduled September 24 cruise on Norwegian Breakaway from Warnemunde. Because of bad weather, we learned the ship would leave Copenhagen at 2 pm that day and skip Warnemunde. The receptionist, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, helped me book Flixbus tickets online from Rostock bus station to Copenhagen. Our bus was due to leave at 2:20 am on Sunday, September 24. We took the train back to Rostock and waited five hours at the bus station, then reached Copenhagen at 9 am and took a taxi to the cruise terminal. We boarded the ship on time. That kind young woman saved our cruise, and we'll always be grateful to her.

Good value for the money, and not far from the MSC cruise terminal.
