We found this lovely hotel in December 1990 and have kept coming back ever since. It’s perfect for Christmas, though fabulous at other times of year too. The decorations in December are particularly spectacular. The rooms are fabulous, breakfast is amazing, and the coffee and cake are delicious any time of day. It’s just inside the old town, so it’s nice and quiet, but still an easy walk to the heart of town. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

The town tower is worth seeing both in daylight and after dark. Rothenburg ob der Tauber has so much to explore, and the museum is fantastic. This is the best place to stay while visiting, whatever time of year you come.

The Christmas market was just a short walk away, and we had a wonderful stay. Our room was cozy, and the staff were welcoming and accommodating.

Parking was convenient, and our large front corner room got plenty of sun. We spent three days at Hotel Gerberhaus and enjoyed every one of them. The breakfast buffet had lots of tasty choices and generous portions. The service stood out most: after we forgot three items, the staff went out of their way to get everything back to us. Thanks.

We’ve stayed at this very old hotel several times while traveling in Germany, and they always do a great job. It’s a small place with only 20 rooms, but the private rear patio and garden are quaint, and there’s an enclosed garage for several cars. Get there before check-in if you want a chance at a spot; otherwise you’ll need to park outside the walled city. Breakfast is included in the room price and is fantastic. Inga, the innkeeper, is lovely and you should meet her. One of our favorite places in Germany.
