Post Pension

The pillows were the least comfortable I’ve ever slept on, just unsupportive lumps. And despite the “soundproof” windows, street noise was incredibly loud until around midnight, when it finally began to die down. Absolutely horrid. I’m honestly shocked by what I paid. Maybe I booked late, or trusted the positive reviews, but the price was on par with the upscale castles we stayed in up the river. This place is nowhere near luxurious. The room was clean, but looked like it hadn’t been worked on since the 70s. It was noisy and small, with none of the basics like a teapot or coffee. Breakfast wasn’t included despite the exorbitant charge. It felt like a ghost hotel, perhaps bought by a larger chain. Skip it, almost any reasonably priced guest haus should be 100x better than this ramshackle operation.

We were very disappointed, avoid this hotel! There was no working WiFi in the room. When we finally got inside through a back door, the hallways were full of laundry and construction materials. The hotel seemed completely abandoned, with locked doors and no staff. We had to call for information, then walk to another hotel to collect the keys. There was no parking close by, even though the information said there would be.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was a lovely, light start to the day, with soft-boiled eggs, cold cuts, and cheese. The family who own and run the hotel were so kind and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay.

We were made to feel like family from arrival right through to leaving. The hotel is in a great spot beside Drosselgasse, the ferry docks, and the river, and it made our time in this lively town especially memorable. Thank you 💖.
