Ruhpoldinger Hof

There are plenty of hikes nearby, and the free bus makes it easy to reach the start of walks beyond Ruhpolding, from demanding summits to gentler valley routes. The Ruhpoldinger Hof is in the heart of town and has what you need for an active holiday in lovely surroundings. The wellness area is fabulous and immaculate, with a small but perfectly adequate pool, steam bath, herbal sauna, and Finnish sauna. My room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and exceptionally clean, and I slept very well. Breakfast was fantastic, with fresh pastries, Bircher Muesli, eggs, pancakes, and a wide choice of breads. Dinner was enjoyable too, with seasonal dishes alongside the regular menu and good vegetarian options. Tuesday is “Ruhetag”. At both meals the staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The hotel offers bed and inclusive breakfast, with evening meals available from the À la Carte menu. The welcome at Reception was warm and genuine, and everyone on the team was helpful. Thanks, Anja, for being patient when I speak German. I really enjoyed my stay and can’t wait to return!

We liked the location, the staff, the rooms, the food, and the swimming pool. The rooms were extremely clean, and we celebrated Christmas here. The one downside was how extremely warm the restaurant was. I couldn’t enjoy the atmosphere because of it.

The beer garden had a good atmosphere in the afternoon, and the service was friendly and quick. Prices were good, so we decided to try dinner too. Service was quick inside as well. The dessert was really good, and they were able to serve a small cognac with it.

Ruhpolding is a lovely little town with easy access to outdoor activities. Hotel guests get the Chiemgau karte, which includes free ski lifts, three hours at the local Vital Alpina Adventure & wellness pool (sauna area not included), and other benefits. The location deserves five stars. The pool and wellness area were nice, and we enjoyed the pool opening at 07:30. The sauna didn’t open until 16:00, which won’t suit everyone, but we enjoyed it anyway. Four stars. The rooms were fine, with enough space and a good bathroom. The bed was acceptable, but neither my wife nor I could sleep because of the pillows. They felt like covers stuffed with rolled-up socks. Three stars. Reception and breakfast room staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. The evening restaurant and bar staff weren’t as friendly. We were ignored at the bar for 15 minutes while staff came and went to get drinks for other guests. When we decided to go elsewhere, the waitress finally came over and was simply rude because we hadn’t waited longer. Three stars.
