Gaestehaus Parkblick

The sewer smell in our room was awful, and after we reported it at breakfast, we waited about an hour and a half without hearing anything. When we went back to ask, the receptionist became furious and nearly yelled, saying they’d get to it eventually. We’d booked three nights, but the online photos gave a completely different impression from the reality. Although it was a four-person room, it could barely fit the two of us. It was clean, at least, but I’d tell people to avoid this guesthouse.

For the price, this was disappointing. I paid 186 euros for one night, and room 6 looked nothing like the advertised photos. It was extremely basic, more like a hostel. The beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was simple but enough for us. The location was convenient for Europa Park and Rulantica, with plenty of parking, but the room had ants on the floor and a mouse trap in the bathroom. No toiletries were provided, despite being advertised. The shower head was broken, so we had to take turns holding it up for each other, which was especially awkward when the children needed to wash their hair. The shower door leaked badly, and we used our towels to keep the tiled floor from getting slippery. Not good value for money.

Breakfast had plenty of vegetarian choices and was hearty enough to set us up for the day. The rooms are small but very clean, and the hotel is only a five-minute walk from the Europapark entrance. Free parking, too. Great value for money.

We could check in early, leave our bags, and head to Europa-Park, which made the evening easy. The place is comfortable, with hot water in the bathroom and warmth even in winter. Breakfast was good, with a huge selection for all kinds of tourists. Recommended!
