A smart hotel right in the city, with clean rooms and friendly, familiar staff. You can also get fresh drinks in the lounge.

Breakfast was good on the day we had it, with as much continental food as you wanted, and service was prompt. Everything was clean and well presented, so it was fine for a night, but the place is old and needs renovation. Parking is limited to about seven spaces, and I was lucky to get one inside the garage. There was music playing in the basement late into the night, which made it hard to fall asleep. I had to shut the window to block some of the noise, and there’s no air conditioning.

The price felt far too high for what we got, and I wouldn’t recommend this place. Our room was shabby and dated, the bathroom was dirty, and the mattress sagged and was really uncomfortable. The shower barely worked, so I had to hold the shower head in place. We even found empty beer bottles in a cupboard. The person who checked us in spoke only German and was rather unfriendly. I was very disappointed and slept terribly.

The street where City Hotel Saarbrücken is located was dark and dirty, with junkies partying on the corner, literally. That made the whole stay uncomfortable from the start. The hotel itself felt completely outdated, old, and dirty, and the elevator didn’t work, though the cleaning staff used it for their own tasks. That seemed suspicious to me, as if the hotel might be trying to save on electricity. Breakfast is barely worth calling breakfast. There were two of us, but we were given just one towel. I don’t know, the whole feeling was bad. This was probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Go for it if you dare.

As the previous reviewer said, the hotel is old and could use a facelift. The bathroom is very small, but the reception staff were always available. Breakfast was good on the one day we ate there.
