Gasthof Hirschen

This is only about the restaurant. The terrace is nice and well located, and the portions were generous. The food was tasty, with a well-seasoned side salad, though I found it a bit expensive.

The forest setting and the view of Schwrzwald were lovely, and our rooms were clean and tidy. Staff cleaned and straightened them each morning. Even so, we wouldn't recommend the hotel. The staff didn't feel warm or welcoming, and parking was usually full. One night I was told to park outside the hotel lot in a paid space, which I refused. We had booked two rooms for our family and expected them to be near each other, but they were at opposite ends of the floor. At breakfast, food kept running out, and we repeatedly had to ask for bread, milk, cheese, and even water. The Wi-Fi was very poor, and having to enter a separate username and password for every device was annoying. Reception was especially weak in our second-floor room. No Red Card.

I stopped for lunch on the square and ordered a vegetarian dish. It was bland, too salty, and tasted reheated, so it wasn't worth 16 euro. They first handed me an English menu with no prices and only some of the dishes from the German menu.

We had a lovely vacation. The room was just right, the hotel staff were wonderful, and it was good value for a pleasant stay in the beautiful Black forrest.
