Angels - das Hotel am Golfpark

We used the hotel as a base for hiking, and it was handy to clean and dry our muddy shoes at the basins on the golf course. Service was great, the bathroom was great, and the sauna was nice. The food was good too. A couple of things made the room less comfortable. It was much too hot to sleep, and setting the air conditioning to its lowest did nothing. Opening the window brought in a howling noise that kept me awake. Also, switching off the lights cuts power to the sockets, so my devices weren’t charged by morning. Not a nice surprise.

Dinner took a long time whether we came early or late, and the menu felt overpriced to me. €26 for a schnitzel? After golf I just wanted something to eat, but currywurst or a club sandwich every day didn’t feel worth it. Service was hard to find too, since the staff seemed to stay behind the cashier. The outside of the hotel is beautiful, but details were missing, like a luggage stand in the room. Passing reception in the morning, we got no smile or even a “Guten Morgen.” I’d have liked to sit with a glass of wine and watch the final PGA tour on the big TV, but there’s only one sofa group and the screen was showing nature scenery. On the balcony and at the driving range, a nearby factory’s odor made it hard to enjoy a fresh breeze.

The breakfast staff were friendly, but the reception service was unpleasant. They charged me during my stay without my approval. Someone else also opened our door with another card. I reported that the door was broken and that my own key card wouldn’t open it, but they told me it was my fault.
