Landhaus Schoenen

The hotel has gone downhill a lot over the past two years. The owners don’t seem to maintain what could otherwise be a lovely place, and they’re quick with excuses. They take criticism personally, but don’t fix anything, and even brushed aside a discount they had promised. It feels like they’ve lost their hospitality and are already mentally retired abroad. What makes it worse is what I see as outright lying. The towels were so dirty I wouldn’t use them for my dog. The supposedly new ones were so badly washed that they stank, but the owners dismissed that as subjective. The beds and shower were in a deplorable state, and the patio doors were another problem. They say they have a great handyman, but with those conditions, I don’t see how they justify such high prices. The best hotel nearby charges just €10 more per night for a whole apartment. Instead of taking constructive criticism seriously, they badmouth competitors and tell guests they’re welcome to leave. It’s a sad state of affairs. We visit the area 4-6 times a year, so we have a solid basis for comparison. Sadly, never again!

A quiet, very nice hotel with a personalized breakfast and excellent value for money.

Breakfast was generous, delicious, and clearly made with care, and we could park right outside for free. The rooms were lovely, too. If we return, we'll ask for a terrace room again. Our hosts looked after us so well, and we felt right at home. We'd happily come back. 🤗

We had a spacious double room with plenty of places to sit and a wardrobe for each of us. The balcony was large, furnished, and looked out over the vineyards toward Strasbourg. Breakfast had lots to choose from, including pastries, fresh cold cuts and cheese, tasty jams, and plenty of fresh fruit. The hosts gave us a warm welcome, and the house was wonderfully quiet with no through traffic. Plenty of reasons to return.
