I slept wonderfully here, even during a stay of several weeks. The rooms are old, but they have a certain charm, and the food is good. It’s cash only, with no Wi-Fi, and I don’t know whether there’s an indoor pool. The prices shown on Google and other sites are nowhere near accurate.

Breakfast was a nice surprise: they kindly prepared it for us. The hotel is clean and inexpensive, though very basic and like it’s still in the 1970s. When we arrived at midday, the door was locked, which really wasn’t acceptable. They also don’t take debit cards, which feels outdated. Fine for a night.

That bed was worn out, and back pain felt guaranteed. The place badly needs renovating. Everything is dated, down to the tiny TV, where you can barely see anything, and only seven channels. There’s no Wi-Fi either. If you like a 1970s style, you might still enjoy staying here. Just my personal opinion.

For a single night, it’s okay, and things were reasonably clean, though only a solid C. But the rooms feel frozen in the 1970s, from the old TV to the shower fittings, and some parts are overdue for renovation. The payment setup is the real problem: Check24 lists card payment, but the hotel takes cash only. That’s unacceptable for sales reps who have to pay upfront. The booking portals should check this and reconsider.

Schwalenberg’s half-timbered houses are worth seeing, and Bad Pyrmont, with its fortress and castle, is another nearby sight. The hotel’s 1970s atmosphere makes it a good base for exploring. At the end of August 2022, the Hamburg shanty choir "Die Fleetenkieker" met here to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
