Hotel Königsseer Hof

The room itself was ok, though the mattresses felt a bit soft. Staff were unfriendly, and breakfast was standard. There’s no elevator, and the stairs up to the rooms are steep, something to bear in mind if you have heavy suitcases. We expected a lake view, but the location was just average and the lake was a 5 minute walk away.

There was no one available at check-in, and the contact number left for us wasn’t a way to get in touch without WhatsApp. We were left stranded until we found someone who could call for us. We arrived at 7pm, so it wasn’t even late. The bathroom did have heated floors, and breakfast was good.

We paid €700 for one night for five of us in a two-bedroom place with just one bathroom, so the value was poor. At €150 a night I suppose it would have seemed reasonable. They also charge 2% for credit card payments. The room was clean, but the skylights had no shades, so we woke up when the sun came up. It was a third-floor walkup, which is worth considering if you have heavy suitcases. The location was average, near the lake but not on it, with a nice view of the parking lot. We paid a lot for the night.

We never intended to cancel, only to change the date because bad weather stopped us from making the trip. I understand policies and respect guidelines after staying at many hotels and BnBs, but the response felt completely lacking in empathy. One staff member was very rude, accused me of the same thing as past guests, and said guests often can’t provide evidence of bad weather. They hung up and told me to contact the third-party platform, which they have never replied to. When I sent a weather screenshot from an App, they demanded more information. I believe a better solution could have been reached if the staff member had listened and worked with me on the phone. So far, they still haven’t responded through the platform or offered any solution.
