Apartments "Am Nationalpark"

We felt right at home in this newly furnished, practical and lovely holiday apartment. It’s in a very peaceful spot near the national park, and the landlords were friendly and easy to deal with.

The quiet street and well-kept, spacious grounds made for a peaceful stay, with parking right outside the door. The apartment itself is modern and in very nice condition. I spent a week there with my e-bike. Charging it and keeping it in the entrance area were no problem, though I doubt there’s safe parking space for more than three bikes. My unit didn’t have terrace access, although some apartments in the building do. The kitchen and living area was convenient, with a fridge, two-burner stove, coffee maker, microwave and kettle. For groceries, the nearest shop is in Schwedt, about 4 km away, so having a car is useful. There’s plenty to do nearby. It’s a great base for visiting Poland, exploring the Oder Valley on foot or by bike, or taking the train from nearby Schwedt, or rather Angermünde, to Berlin for about €14. I also went to Niederfinow for a day to see Europe’s largest boat lift, and didn’t run out of things to do during the week. The landlords were very nice and shared helpful tips. I’d gladly return if I feel like visiting the Oder Valley again, and highly recommend the accommodation.

We were very comfortable here and would love to come back. The apartment is bright, brand new and on the ground floor, with modern, pleasant furnishings that make self-catering easy. It also has satellite TV, Wi-Fi and a lovely bathroom. Booking by email and getting the keys from the landlady were both smooth and straightforward. The setting is wonderfully peaceful, on a hill in Criewen, about a five-minute walk from the National Park entrance and the village center. From the ground-level terrace, you can see stables and cows grazing in the meadows. In the mornings there are hares and storks, and, depending on the season, you may spot stork parents raising their young a little farther away. Criewen is the heart of the Lower Oder Valley National Park, with fantastic wildlife watching: sea eagles, ospreys, cranes, golden orioles and red-backed shrikes. A real paradise for bird lovers. The village has at least four stork nests, plus an inn, an ice cream parlor and a grocery store.

Criewen is such a charming little rural village. At night it’s completely quiet, a dream! The location also works brilliantly for day trips, hikes and bike rides, with Schwedt, Angermünde and Poland close by. The three of us stayed August 21st/22nd to 24th, 2022, and were delighted. The place had been beautifully renovated, without that ugly old-fashioned blue and orange look you often see. We’ll be back!
