Ferien im Denkmal an der Elbe

The upstairs apartment isn’t stroller-friendly, unfortunately. We had to leave ours in the car because the space is narrow and there are so many steps to carry it up and down. A stair gate up there would also help, so you could relax in the kitchen. The towels all smelled strongly of smoke, perhaps from drying. Still, the beds were very comfortable and cozy, the view was beautiful, and the location was great. Parking is right in front, and it’s very child-friendly, with a crib, high chair, and lots of toys. Otherwise, everything was perfect and we’d love to return!

We spent the first Advent weekend in the large holiday apartment, and all three couples felt right at home. The common room had a conservatory feel, and we stayed there late into the night. The view from the window of the Elbe, just a few meters away, was breathtaking. Mrs. Frohberg was a wonderful, kind host. The house was lovingly furnished, already warm when we arrived, and had a bit of Christmas decoration. The kitchen had everything for cooking, and the books and games made our evenings lovely. The missing TV and slow Wi-Fi suited us perfectly. It’s also a great base for hikes and day trips to Dresden, Pillnitz Palace, or Königstein Fortress. We’ll definitely be back. The location of the holiday cottage is fantastic, and that’s the only reason for the one star. The price was outrageously high for such uncomfortable accommodation. It’s advertised as having four bedrooms, but only one deserves that description. The other supposed bedrooms were two dark rooms and a 3-square-meter closet, all with mattresses on plywood boards. The downstairs bathroom only had cold water. The landlord knew about the problem and ignored it, and communication with them was unprofessional and embarrassing. I strongly advise against staying here!

The rooms have a lovely atmosphere, and the view over the Elbe is a dream. The owners are super nice, and there are two fully functional holiday apartments with roof terraces. We’ll be back.
