8/10
My room was generously sized, with enough power sockets in useful spots, and even a small fridge. The staff were nice, and there’s free parking a block away. The breakfast buffet was good, though the choice was limited and it was the same each day. It’s an affordable hotel right in the city centre. The room stayed pretty dark even with all the lights on, and smelled as if people had smoked in it for years before the “no smoking” sign went up. The mattress was much too soft. The bathroom ventilation unit sounded awful and seemed close to giving out. Wi-Fi signal strength was good, but the upstream connection couldn’t handle this many guests. All in all, it was a reasonable-priced and not unpleasant stay.

I got to the hotel at about 8 pm, but nobody was at reception. There was only a notice with the number 02402 9630 to call if no one was there. I called three times and left a message on the answering machine, but nobody ever called back. After waiting for an hour, I went to another hotel.

A lovely little place, very clean, with a great breakfast and loads to choose from.

The rooms are spacious and tidy, and breakfast is really good. The hotel is right in the city centre. The only drawback is that reception isn’t open around the clock.

There’s no bar or restaurant, but there is a beer vending machine. There’s nowhere to sit outside apart from the front steps. The place is tucked away beside a multistory car park, but it’s only a short walk to a stunning town with a lot of history.
