Holiday Inn - the niu, Mesh Stuttgart Messe by IHG

The room itself was okay, but the staff interaction turned the stay into a disappointment. Both bedside lamps were out, so we reported it and were told the room would be changed. At reception, another employee refused, saying it wasn’t a problem and offering either a €50 upgrade or a refund so we could leave. It was 9pm, and I was there with a child. He claimed all the rooms were like that, which seemed ridiculous, then said three or four more guests were arriving and he didn’t want to give them a room with a broken lamp. I asked why it was acceptable for us but not them. I needed to work, and he suggested using the small light under the TV. I joked I might as well work in the toilet. He kept insisting there was no issue, even after I explained that it was Holiday Inn’s problem. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in, apologized, and moved us. He explained that fixing lamps might be difficult at Christmas, which made sense. The other employee’s attitude was completely unacceptable. I’ve never had this sort of problem at another chain hotel. That staff member needs basic customer service training, let alone hospitality training.

Lovely stay ✨ The hotel is a little outside the city centre, but I’d definitely recommend it if that doesn’t bother you. The room was clean, the bathroom spacious, and reception was friendly. There’s also a free sauna until 10pm. Breakfast costs 17€ per person. The selection wasn’t huge, but what they had was good 👍🏼. There’s even a pancake machine, a Nutella dispenser, and plant-based milk for cereal 😆

The team were genuinely hospitable and helped with all my requests, and the secure underground parking made this a great fit for my trip. I rented an M4 competition for four days as part of a holiday, and was concerned about paint, parking, or rim damage because repairs and insurance deductibles can be expensive. I used the car for Autobahn and Bavaria travel, then left it parked here while taking an Uber into Munich. Pickup and return were seamless. If you’re renting a car through a Motorworld dealership and need to get to Motorworld, this location works really well. It’s about a 10 Euro Uber ride away. I’m a loyal IHG member, and the service felt consistent with the brand. The hotel has great facilities and secure parking. It’s also easy to reach many restaurants by Uber. I’m happy to recommend it to anyone in the same situation. Thanks for a great stay.

For the value, I’d give this hotel five stars. It sits on Stuttgart’s edge in an industrial and business area, near the airport and a major highway junction. I picked it because city hotels don’t have parking. There’s plenty of paid parking for 20 euros a day, including four EV charging points, though the nearby street parking is quite full. An S Bahn station is about 200 m away. The hotel feels fairly new. My standard room was small but cozy, with no fridge, coffee machine, or desk. There were plenty of outlets and USB ports, plus a nice-sized TV. The staff were friendly, especially at breakfast, though reception still seemed to have some teething problems. Breakfast was around 17 euros a day and a nice, standard buffet. There’s no gym, or even an empty room for yoga or exercise, and it’s impossible to do a push-up in the rooms. The toilet seat doesn’t close softly, which seems like it should be standard by now. The shower is only partly enclosed, so water sprays everywhere.
