ibis Stuttgart Centrum

Parking was great, with plenty of space, and breakfast was very good. I hate juice from a dispenser, but the orange juice was nice. Still, we paid for three nights and slept properly for only one. At checkout, nobody said anything; we were just asked to leave the room keys in a box. This hotel doesn't live up to the Ibis name. We probably had a lot of bad luck that weekend. Our first room, no. 213, had a broken bed base, and the first night felt like sleeping on a waterbed. The outer fabric was torn, so I don't understand how it hadn't been noticed earlier. There was no replacement room, so we had to spend two nights on that bed. The next day, after waiting three hours, we were given room no. 225. A cover panel for the heating system was badly secured and fell off, blocking the bathroom door. We were told 30 minutes later that it was fixed, but the same problem was there when we returned at 6 p.m. We then waited until 7 p.m. for a technician to finally repair it. The rooms are simple and feel straight out of the 1970s. There are no power outlets by the bed, which feels especially outdated in 2025. The socket beside the “bathroom” partition doesn't let you charge a phone on the nightstand and use it as a clock and alarm. The nightstand has a 1/0/2 switch, but position 2 didn't work in room 213 and had no effect in room 225. The TV is a good size, but sits off-center from the bed. With the light on at the left, the person on the right side of the bed sees only its reflection and glare. For an international hotel, there are no free French channels. The bedding in room 213 was impossible to sleep on with the broken bed. I've never experienced anything like that in 30 years of travel. Room 225 had only one extra pillow by default, which isn't enough; like other Ibis hotels, it should provide two pillows and one duvet as standard. Some wardrobe hangers in room 213 were broken, too. The bathroom looks like a “Formule 1”-style plastic pod, but it does the job. The lighting at night is awful. The toilet was unacceptable, with stains on the seat and a black waterline. That's not worthy of an Ibis. The entrance was dirty too, in our view. For three days, the accessible ramp was littered with cigarette butts and beer residue, and the flower pots blocked wheelchair access.

The place felt clean and safe, and it's dog friendly. The beer was great, the location perfect, and parking nearby worked well for larger vehicles. Very comfortable stay, with lovely staff, especially the Brazilian / German lad.

It's a nice hotel in a convenient area that's almost central. We had trouble with the room heating, though, and reporting it didn't get the problem fixed during our stay. They did give us extra blankets.

The rooms are simple but clean, and the staff were super friendly. The hotel is really well located. We used the underground parking, which is spacious and easy to reach, with the lift connecting straight to the hotel floors. Breakfast was nice as well, with sweet and savoury choices.
