It can be a little difficult to get here by bus, since there are two local operators with different schedules. You might have to call for a pickup, otherwise they don't run. The hotel itself is in a quiet spot, which made for a good night's sleep. We stayed one night while hiking in the Südheide (Southern Heath), with breakfast included. The rooms are somewhat dated and the walls aren't well insulated, so we could hear the TV from downstairs. Still, the service, restaurant and breakfast were superb, with fresh local food and homemade bread, meats and cakes. Breakfast in the room with antique furniture and decorations was lovely too.

We had our wedding here, and the place and staff were fantastic. The venue was superb and the food amazing. I honestly can't find anything to criticize. Thanks for such a great wedding day, and for all the lovely Christmas meals we've had here since.

The crème brulé has become a family favourite. There's a good choice of local game on the menu, and the food is straightforward and honest, with lovely service. In Britain, you could almost call this a classic country pub. Definitely recommend.
