Those two stars are for the tasty cordon bleu, the okay Spätzle for the kids, and the reasonable price. The food itself was a mixed experience. Our onion roast beef was roughly 3 cm thick, tough, and overcooked, unlike what we’re used to at Bavarian restaurants. The cordon bleu tasted good but was carelessly put on the plate with fries, a small lemon slice, and a ketchup packet. It also had a toothpick holding the meat together, which I haven’t come across at other places serving cordon bleu. The children’s meals came about 20 minutes after we ordered, while the restaurant was still very sparsely occupied. The kids finished their games quickly, so we ordered another portion of Spätzle, which arrived before the adults’ main course. We were done in an hour, which would make sense if the place were busy. We had two children with us, one under a year old, and only got a high chair after asking. From the moment we entered, we felt unwelcome as non-Bavarians. There were just five other guests at the time, four men in a corner who seemed to be playing Skat, while the landlady chatted animatedly with another guest. The place gave us a 1970s impression. When we left fairly quickly with our baby, the owner seemed surprised and said something like, “You don’t go out with children!” That made a planned dinner on our last evening in the area especially frustrating. We found the child-friendliness and hospitality lacking, and we’re used to a different standard in Bavaria. I can’t understand the 4.4-star Google rating, since our experience was the opposite of what’s described here. If you’re going out to eat with children, I’d avoid this restaurant.

Eva is a lovely landlady who puts her heart into the place. The food is fresh and delicious, and the schnitzel was the best I’ve had in years. Breakfast was superb as well. Our rooms were spacious and very clean, with great bathrooms. It’s a traditional inn, with lots of wood, though everything has been newly renovated and is impeccably maintained. You can hear cars from the main road, so keep that in mind. Given that, I don’t understand some of the complaints here. Thanks for such a wonderful stay, and we hope to see you again.

The meal was good, and I was served without any trouble. Still, the older waitress seemed like she’d rather have gone home than serve the four guests there. The two waitresses, one middle-aged and one very old, were already giving me strange looks when I arrived. The dining room felt like a step back to the 70s, and the whole place struck me as very odd.

The food on the menu was good, and the staff were friendly, so I can recommend the dishes. The room and adjoining bathroom were both very nice, clean, and newly renovated. At breakfast, though, fresh bread rolls were missing, especially for the €10.00 per person price.
