The place was lovely, the facilities were very clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly. The food was VERY disappointing. I expected local homemade dishes, but got fast-food-style hash browns with lamb’s lettuce, fried turkey breast, a teaspoon of pumpkin seeds, a slice of orange, two slices each of radish and cucumber, and one cocktail tomato. The oily balsamic dressing made it feel more like an American diner than Black Forest food. 🥲

The dining was very good, and breakfast was high quality. Our room was large, well appointed, and very comfortable. This is a quiet rural spot with plenty of parking and lovely walks starting right outside. We wanted a traditional Black Forest hotel, and this fit perfectly. It’s 350 years old and has been welcoming guests that whole time.

We especially loved the venison stew made by the owner, who is also the chef. The venison came from a nearby huntsman, locally and ethically sourced. The food was exquisite, the accommodations were wonderful, and the prices were affordable. An incredible, authentic Black Forest experience. A+++

We had a great time at Gasthaus Staude. The rooms were cozy and nicely decorated, and the whole place had a lovely atmosphere. Everything was spotless and well maintained. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely come back for more.

The rooms and the hotel have such a calming, welcoming feel, with lovely design throughout. I found the whole stay really peaceful and relaxing, especially surrounded by untouched nature. It was a great experience, and I’d love to recreate it sometime.
