I arrived at 2 a.m. after train delays, and only noticed the next day that my room window was broken and wouldn’t shut, letting in cold air and noise. I was staying for 12 nights and asked to move rooms, but was told that wasn’t possible because I’d already slept in the bed. The staff member said I should have reported the window when I arrived, despite the late hour, and that there was nothing she could do because maintenance was on vacation. She also refused my request to call an outside service. There was no offer of another solution or any real attempt to deal with it. Luckily, another guest overheard us and, being a carpenter, fixed the window himself. The staff came across as notably unfriendly and unhelpful throughout this problem. It made for a very disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t come back.

The location near the center is the one good thing for me. The room looked like it was from the 80s, and the rooms shown online were different. The bathroom was just as old, with black mould, and there was a variety of hair in the shower. Breakfast was only okay, with nothing special or much choice. I was amused to be given food stamps to prove I was entitled to breakfast.

We couldn’t get a hotel parking space because they said the lot was full, but luckily found one just outside. The hotel is small, modern and very central. Our room was clean, though it had carpet and no water glasses or anything like that. The staff were okay. Breakfast cost 12,90€ for an adult, while kids ate free. There were too many people in the breakfast room, and during Corona some weren’t wearing their masks properly, so we left before finishing. The breakfast itself wasn’t very good. Fine for a one-night stay.

I was shocked by how this was handled. I’d booked a room with a kitchen, but when I tried to cook the food I’d bought that evening, it didn’t work. Reception then told me cooking wasn’t allowed in the hotel. There was a kitchen physically in the room and in the booking description, with no warning that it was unusable. They offered no way to sort it out, only told me I could write a complaint in the morning. I did, asking for a partial refund, and they refused. I paid extra for a service that mattered to me and didn’t receive it. Selling something described this way felt like cheating, and it wasn’t the kind of attitude toward guests I expected in Germany.
