Maritim Hotel Ulm

I only stayed a short while, but the room was comfortable, breakfast was great, and everyone on staff was helpful and nice. It’s an easy walk into the centre, so you can leave the car and go enjoy a German beer 🍺. The one thing that bothered me was parking: 18 Euros a night feels steep.

We only stayed one night and didn’t get a chance to see Ulm, though it looks like a lovely city. The hotel itself made us feel very welcome, and we’d definitely come back. It’s beside the Danube, with safe walks along the river, especially handy when travelling with a dog. Our room had two bowls, little snacks and a blanket for our dog, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was plentiful, and the staff there were kind, friendly and very helpful. I also appreciated the vegan milk machine since I’m allergic to cow’s milk.

We had a lovely stay. The rooms are roomy, the breakfast room is fabulous, and dogs are welcome.

The price is decent and the location is good, but there are friendlier places nearby. There’s a lot of construction going on around the hotel, and the underground parking is expensive, especially for motorcycles. When I tried the sauna, I was told I needed to book, and the person said it in a very unfriendly way. The bar would need a second mortgage. I can’t say much about the view: I was on the first floor of a 16-floor hotel, looking out at a dull flat roof. All fur coat and no underwear.
