A well run, family-owned hotel with clean, spacious rooms and a very good internet connection. The food gets high marks for quality, taste, and portion size. Service was also very good and much appreciated. 👌

My favorite part was the breakfast. There was a good variety, and the quality was high enough to earn a gold medal from me! Gasthaus Löwen is a welcoming, friendly hotel, and the people working there are just as warm. The clean, comfortable rooms and the restaurant's great atmosphere made the stay enjoyable. Reserve a table at the restaurant, though, since locals know about it too. There are fitness and wellness areas, and public transportation is included in the price. Whether you're visiting Waldkirch or are near Freiburg, it's a great place to stay. They were also happy to help with special requests. Thank you, and all the best!

The room was a clean, spacious triple, and the dinner was good with lovely service. Breakfast was adequate. But it was 36 degrees when we arrived, and although a fan helped a bit, the room stayed very hot without air conditioning. We couldn't see any proper curtains, blinds, or shutters, so the early sun woke us up. The hotel is right beside a church, and its bells rang often and loudly.

The staff were really friendly, everything was immaculately clean, and breakfast was a typical German buffet. We used this typical German hotel for a stop on the way home from Italy, choosing it because it had a family room. Unfortunately, the room was under the roof and unbearably hot with 28C outside. There was no air conditioning, and several sections were missing from the flimsy vertical blinds, so privacy was difficult when undressed and daylight woke us early. It was OK for one night on the way, but I wouldn't pick the family room again.

We chose the double room for two nights and really loved the stay. The family running the hotel were kind and open, and the warm, home-like rooms added to the welcoming feel. The food was great, with lots of choices, including local dishes and vegetarian options. The village is far enough from Freiburg for a relaxing break and cycling or hiking, yet public transport is convenient. You can still reach the heart of lovely Freiburg in about fifteen minutes. Five stars!
