Landhotel Rosenberger

Most of the staff were quite friendly, though a few restaurant workers seemed unhappy to have guests at noon. The pool is small and down in the basement, but still nice. The hotel is about 30 years old and has been renovated. It looks and feels good in general, though some areas, such as the showers, still need more work.

The whole family had a restful, pampered stay, with excellent service. We were there in winter, and it felt as warm as summer throughout the hotel.

If I could rate this place a quarter star, I would. It was a very disappointing stay, and I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel. The room was meant to be a family room, but it was really a double room with a sofa bed. There was a small kitchen and the fridge worked, but the stove didn't, and there was no water supply in the kitchen. The toilet was dirty and smelly. There was mold throughout the bathroom, and the shower screen was so small that water splashed everywhere. Towels were changed every two days, but our room wasn't cleaned once during the week. There was no air conditioning, which was really hard to manage in temperatures over 30 degrees. We had to leave the windows open for air, but our room was right above the entrance smoking area, so we got smoke and noise instead. The Wi-Fi only worked at reception and in the game room. Elsewhere the signal was terrible, if you could get any at all. The elevator worked only twice that week, so we had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs. The staff weren't very friendly, and most couldn't speak a word of English. They call it a resort, but it didn't feel like one. The swimming pool was tiny and always crowded. The sauna only opened once 10 people had signed up. Given its size, I can't imagine where 10 people were supposed to fit, so I guess it was a way to discourage people from using it. It's an all-inclusive hotel with a buffet. Breakfast was exactly the same every day. Dinner had a few different choices, but sometimes the food was tasteless. Everything at the salad bar was drenched in vinegar, or vinegar and sugar.

The place and its peaceful, interesting grounds made for a really pleasant stay, and I’d absolutely recommend it. The food was delicious, and the team handled busy moments well. The pool was too small, though. :)
