From here, the bus stop for Basel is about 15-20 minutes away, and the hotel isn't far from the city center. It works well for a one- or two-day stay if you're looking for an affordable room or visiting the Basel area or southern Germany. There is a traditional German pub downstairs where smoking is allowed, though, and the noise carries easily to the first floor.

I didn't sleep at all. The mattresses were too soft to hold me in place, and the linen smelled strongly of conditioner. The shared bathrooms had cigarette-butt marks even though smoking was prohibited. In the common kitchen, a group of Russian construction workers were drinking vodka, while German country music played in the pub all night. Definitely one of the most f***** up places I've ever stayed, but it was German "Provinz" at its finest and something I'll remember for life. There's also a German restaurant nearby and a nightclub with some girls. Bring your trucker outfit and Malboros. Wild South...

The attic room at least had its own shower, though the showerhead was broken, and the toilet was unpleasant with no hand soap. Other rooms have to use a shared shower. The building was dirty and neglected inside and out, with a noisy pub below the rooms and busy railway tracks right beside it. The room amenities were terrible. We only stayed two nights for a nearby event, and even one night was enough to put us off returning. At this price it felt like a rip-off. Truly awful, and not recommended.
